Physical abuse does not necessarily always result in actual bodily harm and can incorporate some of the following:

Threats of violence to yourself, your family or friends
Smashing furniture and personal belongings
Pushed or shoved
Being held against your will
Slapped, bitten, kicked, pinched, punched, choked or ducked under water
Objects thrown at you
Threatened or hurt with a weapon
Stabbed
Locked in or out of the house
Hair pulled
Suffocated
Not allowed to wash
Not allowed to use the toilet
Denied access to sanitary protection
Staved or force fed
Deprived of sleep
Poisoned
Burnt with cigarettes, acid, iron, hot food or water
Attempts to kill
Murder
